SoC Dept. of Radio/Television/Film (RTVF) Department External Hard Drive Loan Program

The goal of this fund is to lower course costs and support student access to School of Communication undergraduate curricular and co-curricular activities. Most specifically, this fund supports undergraduate student participation in RTVF production courses by providing high-performance media storage equipment.

Undergraduate students enrolled in RTVF production classes who demonstrate financial need may qualify to checkout a 1TB external hard drive to execute their project assignments. The G-DRIVE mobile SSD features transfer speeds up to 560MB/s and a backwards compatible USB-C™ port to deliver high-performance storage.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, but students are encouraged to apply during the first week of the quarter. Students will be notified within two business days of application whether they qualify for the program.

Once approved for this program, students can check out an external drive through the Cage’s web checkout system as they would any other equipment:

Checkout period is for a maximum of 10 weeks, beginning the first week of the quarter and ending on the last day of the quarter.

Questions regarding qualifying criteria should be directed to Lori D. Barcliff Baptista, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and Advising
